Background:

My name is Kathy and I am a former special education teacher (retired) and have been tutoring privately for over twelve years. I specialize in working with kindergarteners through third graders who need support with reading challenges including dyslexia. I find it to be the most rewarding work that I've ever engaged in! There is nothing more satisfying to me than opening up the world of reading to children who have struggled with learning challenges. When I'm not tutoring with Academic Ascent I'm usually spending time in the great outdoors, hiking, swimming, golfing, kayaking, and teaching water aerobics! I also love spending time with my three sons and playing with my 'granddogs'.
